Let me tell you that in kids soccer drills, there are certain blunders that coaches make which reduce their teams to rubble and bring it down. Yes, it’s a fact. Most of you might wonder as to what can be so big that puts the team on a loosing streak. Then let me tell you, there can be numerous causes.
With respect to soccer drills for kids, you’ve got to act very cautiously and tactfully. Make it a point to know and value psychology of the kids. Exchange words with them discussing things from their point of view. But sadly, most coaches are not ready to adapt to this. They conveniently ignore fact that there is a disparity between training grown-up players and kids.
So there you have it; top faults of coaches that bring the teams to a point, from where it’s near impossible to get back on to the winning track.
1. To many coaches, their job appears to be very simple. They don’t consider in necessary to be prompt in reaching the ground, set up the drills, or systematize practice sessions. Activities like these not merely put off the kids but are also terrible. You cannot be non-serious when the kids take soccer so seriously. Youth soccer drills should be pre-planned. If you need certain equipment to carry out the drills, arrange it before hand.
Always be prompt. Make it a point to reach the field earlier than the kids. Actually, be there when the kids get there. It provides you some spare time to review the drills and organize things better.
2. Before the sessions, when the coaches impart instructions for kids soccer drills, they get so lost in it so as to loose track of the time. Can you believe how boring that can be? Understand that kids come to play soccer, not to hear your long lectures. Keep the lecture short and sweet. Use these sessions in a way that the kids get inspired to play and enjoy the game.
It is also important not to disturb them in between the sessions. If there is something that you need to tell the kids, wait for the session to end. Also, stay out of the field when the kids are practicing.
3. Some coaches use harsh and offensive language with the kids. In soccer drills for youth, both the characters can prove disastrous. It is never a good idea to show your emotions on the field. It is natural for the kids to make errors on the field. Remember, they are just kids. You should not take it seriously and get offensive with the players.
If this happens, you can drive the kids away from the game. Soccer is a game of the intelligent. When you help the kids know the meaning of it, they will love the game.
